Mangaluru Blast: Police arrested Maaj Munir and Syed Yasin on 20 September. But Shakir managed to escape by dodging the police.
New Delhi: The main accused in the Mangalore blast case was in contact with the ISIS handler. Disclosing this, ADGP Law and Order (ADGP L&O) Alok Kumar said today that Shariq is the main accused in the auto blast case in Mangaluru. Shariq himself has 45 percent scorched in this blast.
Alok Kumar said during a press conference that the family members were brought to Mangaluru Hospital for the identification of Shariq, who lives in Tirthahalli, Shivamogga. Bomb-making materials have been found from Shariq’s Mysore house. Through a fake Aadhaar card, he was living in a rented house in Mysore.
He said that Shariq was influenced by the ideology of ISIS. Was in contact with ISIS handlers through dark web. On September 19, Shariq, along with two other associates, also carried out a trial blast in a forest on the banks of the Tunga Bhadra river in Shivamogga. On September 20, the police arrested Maj Munir and Syed Yasin. But Shakir managed to escape by dodging the police. After this, he was practicing making bombs in Mysore by taking a house on rent with the stolen Aadhaar card.
On the evening of 19 November, he wanted to go to Pumpwell area by riding in an auto rickshaw with one such cooker bomb. But when the auto was passing through Kankanadi area, the cooker bomb exploded. In which the main accused Sharik and auto rickshaw driver Purushottam were injured.
In the year 2020, a case was also registered against Shariq for writing anti-national slogans through graffiti on the walls in Mangaluru. He was also arrested in this case. After being in jail for a few days, he got bail.
