Manipur: Two dead, seven injured in fresh firing between two rival groups in Bishnupur

Manipur Police had informed that six arms, five rounds of ammunition and two explosives have been recovered from Imphal East and Bishnupur districts in the last 24 hours. 25 Different types of ammunition and nine powerful bombs are also recovered. The search operations were conducted by the security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of the five valley districts.

New Delhi:In yet another firing incident, Two people were killed while seven others injured after clash between two armed rival groups in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Tuesday. The dead include a cookie and a meitei. Apart from this, five other people were injured in the firing. According to information, there was a fierce exchange of fire between armed miscreants and security forces in Bishnupur district in the morning.

The incident took place in Manipur’s Bishnupur district’s Naransina Maning Leikai area. A farmer has been told among the injured. The farmer has been admitted to the hospital for medical treatment. The farmer has been identified as Jyotin.

According to sources, at around 6.30 am on Tuesday morning, suspected Kuki miscreants opened fire with small arms at Meitei farmers working in the fields in Naransena, a general area of ​​Bishnupur district, from village Khoirentak (border of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts).

The police said while the VDV was killed after a bomb suddenly exploded due to his mishandling, another person succumbed to his bullet injuries later.

Seven wounded persons were shifted to the government hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.

The police said that in a separate developments, four militants belonging to different outfits were arrested in different operations in Imphal East and Bishnupur districts and some arms and ammunition were seized from their possession.

Two of the arrested militants belonged to the NSCN-IM and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), while two were overground workers of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP).

Six firearms, five cartridges and two explosives were also seized during a search operation by security forces in violence-hit Manipur. In a statement issued by the police, it was said that the search operation was carried out by the security forces in the border and sensitive areas of five districts of the valley. 25 Different types of ammunition and nine powerful bombs are also recovered.
