CM N Biren Singh claimed
Explaining the action taken by the security forces and Manipur Police, CM N Biren Singh said that the terrorist groups against whom action has been taken were carrying out attacks with advanced weapons against the civilian population. Reports quoted Chief Minister N Biren Singh as saying that militant groups were using M-16 and AK-47 assault rifles and sniper guns against civilians.

They came to burn houses in many villages. In response to which the army and other security forces started firing. He also said that terrorists are trying to sabotage the state by carrying out attacks against unarmed civilians. Talking to media persons at the state secretariat, the Chief Minister claimed that the clashes were not between communities but between Kuki militants and security forces.

During this, CM Biren Singh appealed to the public not to obstruct the movement of security personnel. Also urged them to have faith in the government and support the security forces. Singh said that we have experienced hardship for so long and we will never let the state disintegrate. He said that several Kuki militants involved in killing civilians and destroying property and setting houses on fire have been captured by the Jat Regiment.

At the same time, officials have said that these clashes started when the army started a campaign to arm various communities with the aim of maintaining peace. Meanwhile, a top security official said that the house of BJP MLA Khwairakpam Raghumani Singh at Uripok in Imphal West was vandalized and two of his vehicles were torched. He also said that clashes broke out at several places in the early morning hours in various districts around the Imphal Valley.

The violence in the last ten hours has prompted the district authorities to curtail the curfew relaxation period in Imphal East and West districts. Till now, where curfew relaxation was being given for 11 hours, it was now reduced to only six and a half hours.
