New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to postpone its interrogation in the Delhi Liquor Policy matter. Sisodia has been called for questioning by the CBI today, Sunday, February 19.
Sisodia said that he is currently working on the budget of Delhi. He has asked the CBI to postpone the inquiry for at least a week. Sisodia told CBI – I will go to CBI office till the end of February, whenever they will call me. Being the Finance Minister of Delhi, budget preparation is very important, so I have requested to extend the date. I have always cooperated with these agencies.
Sources said that Sisodia had confirmed on Saturday evening that he would be visiting the central probe agency’s office in Delhi on Sunday morning. But around 8.45 am, the CBI received a letter, in which he has sought at least a week’s time to appear before the agency. The CBI is currently not considering his request.
Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia told reporters on Sunday morning that this is an important time for Delhi’s budget. That’s why my full attention is focused on the budget right now. I want CBI to give one week’s time. I myself will come to the CBI office.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, CM Arvind Kejriwal and others are facing allegations of alleged corruption in bringing a new liquor policy in Delhi. Lt Governor VK Saxena had ordered a CBI inquiry last year.
Sisodia, who also held the charge of the Excise Department, was first questioned by the CBI on October 17 last year and his house as well as bank lockers were searched in connection with the case. Many arrests have been made in this case so far.
