Nawada: The body of a 24-year-old man was found at the house of Congress MLA Neetu Singh in Bihar’s Nawada district on Saturday, police said. The deceased, identified as Piyush Singh, was a distant relative of the Congress leader. Neetu Singh, who represents Hisua Assembly constituency, was reportedly not at her home in Narhat when the body was discovered by police.
According to the prima facie, the victim was allegedly beaten with batons. Wound marks were found on his body, police said. Nawada Superintendent of Police (SP) Ambrish Rahul said that they received information about the body at the MLA’s house at 4:30 pm yesterday, following which a team rushed to the spot.
Cong leader Neetu Singh was away in Patna for the past few days and no other family members were also there at the time of the incident.
“The police team recovered the body of Piyush Singh lying in a room that belonged to Golu Singh, who is the nephew of Neetu Singh,” he said. Later, the police also called Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts and dog squad teams to probe the case.
Police suspect that Neetu’s nephew, Golu Singh, could be behind the conspiracy and murder as the victim’s body was found in his room. Golu Singh is the son of the Congress MLA’s brother-in-law Suman Singh and Abha Singh. The suspect is at the large, said police, adding that a investigation has been initiated in the matter and efforts are on to arrest the accused.
According to preliminary investigation, it unveiled that Piyush Singh had gone to Golu Singh’s house at 7 pm on Saturday and did not return home. It is suspected that Piyush Singh was killed at night.
The SP said the body was sent for post-mortem and searches were being conducted by the police in Neetu Singh’s house.
“Based on the prima facie, we are suspecting Golu Singh. No arrests have been made till now. The suspect is on the run. When the post-mortem is done, we will then come to know the exact time the incident took place,” the SP said.
