Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio condoled the deaths in a tweet, saying the site where the accident occurred is known as "Pakala Pahad" and is prone to landslides and rockfalls.
Guwahati: In Nagaland, on Tuesday evening, due to landslides, two cars were hit by huge boulders falling from a hill. 2 people died in this incident. Three others were seriously injured in the accident which took place around 5 pm amid heavy rains on National Highway 29 in Chumoukedima district between Dimapur and Kohima.
The victims have not yet been identified. After completely crushing two cars coming from Kohima side, one of the boulders went on to knock down the other car. The horrifying picture was captured in a camera mounted on the dashboard of a car waiting behind. The video of the accident is going viral on social media.
Sources quoted officials as saying that one person died on the spot, while the other died during treatment at the hospital. The report quoted the police as claiming that another person is still trapped inside one of the cars and the rescue operation is on.

The Chief Minister said that his government is taking all necessary steps to provide emergency services and necessary medical aid to the injured. Financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh has also been announced for each victim’s family.
