Major blast at coke plant of Tata steel factory in Jamshedpur, injuring 3 people | Watch

Jamshedpur: A Massive fire has broken out in a gas pipeline in coke plant at Jamshedpur’s Tata Steel Factory, Jharkhand, which leads to 3 people injured the company announced in a statement. Several fire tenders have been sent to the spot. The incident occurred at around 10:20 am and the situation is reported to be under control now.

“We wish to inform that today, at around 10:20 am, there was a blasting sound at battery 6 of coke plant at Jamshedpur Works. Currently, battery 6 is non-operational and is undergoing a dismantling process,” the steelmaker said in a statement.

Five fire tenders have been rushed to the spot. The fire is currently under control, the company informed adding, “Investigation to assess cause underway.”

“We wish to inform that today, at around 10:20 am, there was a blasting sound at battery 6 of coke plant at Jamshedpur Works. Currently, battery 6 is non-operational and is undergoing a dismantling process,” the steelmaker said in a statement.

“Three employees were injured in an explosion in foul gas pipeline at dysfunctional battery 6 inside the company’s plant in Jamshedpur,” the official said.
The explosion caused panic among the employees who started running helter-skelter. One staffer sustained minor injuries after falling down on the ground in the melee, he added.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed grief over the incident of blast in coke plant of Tata Steel. He tweeted and said, ‘Blast has been received at Tata Steel Plant in Jamshedpur. The district administration, in coordination with the Tata Steel management, is taking action for speedy treatment of the injured.

Let us tell you that on January 18 last year, there was a tremendous explosion in the Tata Steel Company. Due to this there was a stir in the entire area including the factory.
