Massive fire breaks out at Indian Oil refinery in WB’s Haldia; several workers get injured

An enormous fire incident took place at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) in West Bengal's Haldia, which led to the injury of several workers.

Kolkata: An enormous fire incident took place at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) in West Bengal’s Haldia, which led to the injury of several workers. The tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon, around 3 pm, when work was in progress and, incidentally, hot water fell into the pipe of a gas tanker inside the factory.

The moment hot water got into the naphtha gasoline pipe, it caught fire, and a panic-like situation erupted, which led to the injury of several workers.

Three injured workers have been rushed to the local refinery hospital after primary medical aid was provided. They were referred to Kolkata for better treatment. So far, no causalities have been reported.

The officials have sealed the entire area and further investigation is underway to find out the real cause of the accident.

An explosion that took place in the factory a few months ago claimed several lives and nearly 42 workers received injuries.

The District Magistrate held a meeting with the owners of several factories, including the refinery where the incident occurred. The officer stressed the safety of workers and the need to avoid similar kinds of incidents in the future.
