Massive fire engulfs second floor of AIIMS in Delhi; Patients evacuate safely

There was a stir after the news of fire in Delhi AIIMS. In a hurry, the people trapped in the building were evacuated safely.

New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences ‘AIIMS’ on Monday morning. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Sources associated with AIIMS are not yet in a position to tell how the fire broke out. Meanwhile, it is being told that there was a stir after the fire. Although everyone has been evacuated safely. It is being told by AIIMS sources that the fire broke out in the endoscopy room. Due to the fire, smoke was seen rising from the AIIMS building. The smoke emanating from a certain room of the building put the hospital administration in a quandary.

Fire under control, AIIMS director reached the spot
Firefighters have brought the fire under control at AIIMS. Meanwhile, AIIMS director M Srinivas also reached the spot. All the patients have been evacuated safely.

Following the incident, the emergency ward at AIIMS Delhi was closed until further orders. Patients coming to the hospital for emergency care are being asked to go to Safdarjung Hospital. This information is being announced to patients and their families at the hospital’s gate.

The endoscopy room is located on the second floor of the Old Outpatient Department (OPD).

“The fire broke out on the second floor of the Old Raj Kumari OPD Building. It was brought under control by firefighters, but the search operation is still ongoing,” the Fire Department said.
