Bhopal: A massive fire erupted in a hospital in Jabalpur. According to sources, the fire that started at the New Life Multispecialty Hospital in Damoh Naka in the city has resulted in 10 fatalities and 23 injuries.
According to police, a number of fire brigade crews are on the scene attempting to douse the fire and evacuate patients from the hospital.
As per the Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddharth Bahuguna, the fire broke out at the New Life Multi-specialty Hospital in the Jabalpur neighbourhood of Gohalpur police station in the afternoon.
He added that a rescue effort was underway at the hospital, at first glance, it looked like a short circuit caused the blaze.
The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, commented on the tragedy, “Sad news of a fire tragedy that occurred in a hospital in Jabalpur.” I communicate frequently with the local administration and collector. The Chief Secretary has been instructed to monitor the situation as a whole. We are making every attempt to provide assistance and rescue.
“The news of the tragic loss of innocent life in the fire catastrophe at the hospital in Jabalpur breaks my heart.” “I pray to God to give peace to the departed souls and courage to the deceased families to endure this great loss, and pray for the speedy healing of the injured,” Chouhan said.
The CM has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the next of kin of those who died in the tragic fire incident.
