The BJP workers were demanding the suspension of those councillors who were responsible for fighting. BJP MP Parvesh Verma said women councillors were never assaulted before. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hit back strongly and blamed the saffron party for rigging in the Delhi Mayor’s elections.

Verma went on to say that our protest will continue until CM Kejriwal doesn’t dismiss the accused councillors. Verma requested that Delhi L-G suspend councillors who assaulted the women councilors. He was quoted as saying by the news agency.

AAP also alleged that Congress councillors are helping the BJP in Delhi’s Mayor elections.

Clashes were seen between the BJP and AAP councillors inside the chambers of the MCD before the Delhi mayoral polls on January 6. The problems got underway with the oath-taking of newly nominated councillors. The tension reached its peak when the presiding officer invited alderman Manoj Kumar to take oath first.

AAP blamed the BJP, saying it had been trying to derail the mayoral election because 10 nominated aldermen were sworn in before the poll began.

Meanwhile, the BJP said that its two councillors, Anita and Inder Kaur, were assaulted, and one of them got a cut.
