Meghalaya: 5 killed, 21 injured as jeep carrying people for TMC rally overturns in North Garo Hills district

A horrific road accident has taken place in North Garo Hills district. Five women were killed when a pickup full of people going to attend an election rally of Trinamool Congress (TMC) overturned. Along with this, 21 people were injured. They has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

North Garo Hills/Meghalaya: A horrific road accident has taken place in North Garo Hills district of Meghalaya. Five women were killed when a pickup carrying people going to attend an election rally of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) overturned in Bolmedang area. Along with this, 21 people were injured. On getting the information, the police reached there and the people were shocked to see the scene there.

The injured were referred to Goalpara Hospital
North Garo Hills district police chief Shailendra Bamaniya said the condition of most of the injured was critical. They has been referred to Goalpara Hospital in Assam for better treatment. The deceased have been identified as Merina Sangma, Sabina Marak, Kukila Momin, Tessa Sangma and Sosin Marak.

Bamania said that investigation is being done to find out the cause of the road accident. Police has registered a case regarding the accident. Told that the people riding in the pickup were going towards Adoggre village of Kharkutta assembly constituency to attend the election rally. In this, former Chief Minister and TMC leader Dr. Mukul Sangma was about to address the gathering.

Former Chief Minister of Tripura narrowly escaped in the accident
On Monday, former Chief Minister of Tripura and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Biplab Kumar Deb had a narrow escape in a road accident in Panipat district of Haryana. Police gave this information.
