In 2018, the National People’s Party and BJP coalition government was formed in Meghalaya. However, the Congress won the maximum number of 21 seats in the elections. But NPP formed the government in alliance with BJP and other parties. Conrad Sangma of NPP is the Chief Minister of Meghalaya.

However, this time there is a dispute between the two parties on many issues, in such a situation both BJP and NPP are going to contest separate elections. But this possibility cannot be ruled out that BJP and NPP may come together again after the elections.
