Stuttgart/Germany: German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has launched all-new generation C-Class luxury sedan in India at Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). Mercedes C-Class fifth generation is fondly named ‘Baby S’. New Mercedes C-Class gets multiple new features and upgrades. The new sedan comes in three variants, namely C 200, C200d and top-end C300d.

2022 MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS ENGINE OPTIONS
The new C-Class will come in 3 engine options. The C200 petrol gets a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that produces 204bhp and 300Nm of torque. The diesel version gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that offers two states of tunes. All three engine options get an integrated starter generator (ISG) with EQ Boost. In the C220d, the engine produces 200bhp and 440Nm of torque. In the C300d, the powertrain churns out 265bhp and 550Nm of torque.
A 9-speed automatic gearbox will come as standard. All three engines come with a 48V mild-hybrid tech with integrated started generator (ISG) system that offers an additional 20bhp and up to 200Nm of torque. The petrol version is claimed to return 16.9kmpl, while the C200d offers 23kmpl. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in 7.3 seconds. The C300d variant achieve 0-100kph sprint in just 5.7 seconds.
Mercedes-Benz features & dimensions
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class shares the cabin design with the S-Class. It features a vertically stacked 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with MBUX tech. It also gets a 12.3-inch digital driver instrument console, ADAS, connected car tech, a Burmster sound system, an electric sunroof, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, etc.
The sedan offers 3 interior colour trims – Sienna Brown, Macchiato Beige and Black with open-pore wood trim with aluminium inserts and a metal weave trim options. It comes in 6 exterior paint schemes – Mojave Silver, Salatine Grey, Opalite White, High-tech Silver, Cavansite Blue, Manufaktur Opalite and Obsidian Black.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is bigger than the previous model. It is 65mm longer, 10mm wider and has a 7mm higher ground clearance. The sedan measures 4751mm in length and 1,820mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,865mm. The wheelbase has been increased by 25mm.

Further he added, “The letters C and S sit at opposite ends of the alphabet. However, in our portfolio they’re now moving closer together..”.
There are a few features that are missing on the new C though. The car doesn’t get ventilated seats, the controls for the rear AC are missing and the rear passengers do not get USB chargers, although there are two in the elbow box and one on the dashboard. The new C-Class goes up against established rivals such as the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Jaguar XE and the Volvo S60.
