At last, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) broke the jinx and showed their prowess in yesterday’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), winning the match comfortably by 23 runs. CSK, batting first, piled up a huge total of 216 runs on the board. The RCB broke down during the chase of a mammoth total.

Shivam becomes a hero.

CSK tested for the first victory under new skipper Ravindra Jadega after losing four matches in a row. Shivam Dube once again played a gem of an innings, scoring 95 in just 56 deliveries, including eight sixes and five fours. His incredible innings tattered the RCB’s bowling. Later, he was adjudged player of the match.

Mumbai Indians (MI) have been passing through a lean patch after losing four successive matches in this edition of the IPL. The franchise is ready to take on the Punjab Kings in tonight’s encounter. The venue of the match would be the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.

In the wake of the soaring temperatures of April, the journey of the Mumbai Indians has remained cool and meek. The time has come for the MI to go ahead and blast with a thunderous storm; otherwise, it will be too late.

MI is looking for its first victory

The five-time IPL champions, led by Rohit Sharma, are almost in a do-or-die situation. Both sides have played four matches so far. The Punjab Kings are in a better place, having won two out of four matches. Mumbai Indians have not opened their accounts yet.

If we talk about head to head in this context, the pendulum is in favour of MI. Both teams clashed 28 times against each other. The Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings were at home 15 and 13 times, respectively.

The Mumbai Indians find themselves in a tricky situation, so it is a must-win game for MI. The team looked disjointed in the previous matches. Some of the top players are not able to do justice to the team on the ground, and the poor form of skipper Rohit Sharma has further added to the worry for the team. Not to mention, the batters’ bowling attack of the team is looking impotent.

The Punjab Kings went down to the Gujarat Titans in their previous match, and the team has not been able to perform consistently. The captain of the team, Mayank Agarwal, failed to score heavily, and that has put pressure on the middle order. The bowlers of Punjab are bowling well, but in patches.

The fast bowling units of both franchises failed to keep the batters silent. MI pace bowlers proved too expensive and leaked runs at a rate of 9.60. PBKS bowlers are not far behind in this segment. Their economy is poor, conceding 9.24.

There is no shortage of super stars on either side. An enthralling match is on the card. The toss will be crucial for both sides. The Punjab Kings will like to stretch their points. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have a chance to go all out and open their accounts.
