Chennai Super Kings (CSK) refused to bog down despite their poor performance in the earlier matches. CSK, desperate to advance to the playoffs stage, outshined Delhi Capitals by 91 runs to claim their fourth victory in this season’s IPL. Conway set the momentum in the batting and then Moeen Ali captured 3 for 14. This win put CSK in the 8th spot in the points table.

In another match yesterday, Royal Challengers Bangalore easily surpassed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 67 runs, despite a rare zero by Virat Kohli. Skipper Du Plessis in batting and Hasaranga in bowling played a crucial part in RCB’s victory. This victory put RCB in the 4th spot, having won 7 out of 12 matches.

Meeting of two low-ranking teams

The interest in IPL 2022 has been intensifying with the passing of every match. The two lowly ranked teams, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, will take on each other in tonight’s encounter at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. Both teams have lost all their hopes of moving on to the next round. Both franchisees need to play for pride and try to perform better and better in their remaining matches to improve their rankings.

The Rohit Sharma-led side came back remarkably in their previous encounter against Gujarat Titans, emerging victorious in the end from a hopeless situation. The left-arm speedster, Sams, kept the GT batters quiet in the last over and snatched victory from the jaws of GT. Sams said, “We want to finish this IPL on a bit of a roll.” We see our team as a very good team, and we want to prove that over the next few games.

KKR are looking like a disjointed side in this edition of the IPL. The players have failed to perform as a unit. KKR players have played some extraordinary cricket, but in patches, not consistently. That led the team to perform in all the departments of the game to go ahead.

KKR’s team selection is illogical

The team selection is another worry for KKR. They are unable to select their best eleven before the match, who could deliver results for the team. Shreyas Iyer, the sipper of KKR, has not been able to handle his troops adequately.

KKR have a chance to play some fabulous games in today’s encounter against MI to show their old glory. Although both sides will step down on the ground to salvage their pride, their hopes of going to the next stage have almost diminished.

In the head-to-head contest, Mumbai Indians are far ahead, having won 22 matches and losing just eight against Kolkata Knight Riders. But it is going to be a fresh match tonight. Past performance can put some psychological pressure on, but it won’t have much of an impact on a new match.

KKR’s openers have a dubious distinction in this season of IPL. They have played out the power play overs just once, and that was in the opening match of the season. So far, in this edition of the IPL, the KKR openers have failed to provide a 50-run partnership.

Tilak Verma is the leading run scorer for MI. He has amassed 328 runs. Among uncapped players, only Abhishek Sharma has scored more runs than he has in IPL 2022.

MI and KKR will leave no stone unturned in tonight’s fixture. Both sides are expected to press hard for a victory. Therefore, a mouth-watering match is on the card.
