‘Misconduct, unruly behaviour’: After LS, 19 Rajya Sabha MPs suspended for a week amid protest over inflation

New Delhi: 19 members of Rajya Sabha have been suspended for a week. Among them Mausam Noor, L. Yadav, V. Sivadasan, Abir Ranjan Biswas, Sushmita Dev, Shanta Chhetri, Mohammad Abdullah, AA Rahim, Kanimozhi, Dr. Shantanu Sen, Nadeem-ul-Haq and Dola Sen. Rajya Sabha MPs have been suspended for raising slogans by entering the Well of the House.

The other suspended MPs are R Vaddiraju, S Kalyanasundaram, R Girranjan, NR Elango, M Shanmugam, Damodar Rao Divakonda and P Sandosh Kumar. Earlier, there was a ruckus by the opposition in the Rajya Sabha. On which the Deputy Speaker, showing strictness, said that I want to tell the members who raised slogans and clapping in the Well of the House that it is against the rules.

Slogans Against GST
Slogans of “Rollback GST” were raised by the opposition during the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha. The Deputy Speaker told the rioting MPs that please go back to your seats. The whole country is seeing that you are not allowing the House to function. On suspension of MPs, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien said that Modi and Shah have suspended democracy. What are you talking about MPs?

Congress MPs were also suspended in Lok Sabha
Let us tell you that there was a ruckus in the Lok Sabha on the previous day. Four Congress MPs were suspended from the remaining session of the Lok Sabha after they raised slogans against inflation. Congress MPs raised slogans in the House with placards in their hands. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had warned the MPs that no MP who brought placards in the House would be allowed to take part in the proceedings.

After this Congress MPs Manickam Tagore, Jyothimani, Ramya Haridas and TN Prathapan were suspended. There was a strong reaction from the Congress on the suspension of the MPs. The party had said that the government is trying to intimidate us by suspending the MPs. The MPs were trying to raise only those issues which matter to the common people.
