Modi govt to launch special ₹ 75 coin to mark the opening of new Parliament House

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Parliament House on 28 May. During this, a coin of 75 rupees will be launched. The Finance Ministry said on Thursday that a special coin of Rs 75 will be launched to commemorate the inauguration of the new Parliament building. On one side of the coin will be the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar, below which “Satyamev Jayate” will be written. The word “Bharat” will be written in Devanagari script on the left and “India” in English on the right.

The coin will also have the rupee symbol and the denomination of 75 in international numerals below the Lion Capital. The other side of the coin will show the picture of the Parliament complex. The words ‘Sansad Sankul’ in Devanagari script will be written on the upper periphery and ‘Parliament Complex’ in English on the lower periphery.

According to the information received, the weight of this coin of Rs 75 will be 35 grams and it will contain a mixture of 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper, and 5-5 percent nickel and zinc metal. Not only this, the year 2023 will also be written just below the picture of Parliament. The coin is made by the Kolkata Mint of the Government of India and will be launched by PM Narendra Modi during the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House.

Around 25 political parties are likely to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, while around 21 parties have decided to boycott the ceremony. Along with 18 constituents of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), seven non-NDA parties will attend the function.

Bahujan Samaj Party, Shiromani Akali Dal, Janata Dal (Secular), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), YSR Congress, Biju Janata Dal and Telugu Desam Party are the seven non-NDA parties participating in the ceremony. These seven parties have 50 members in the Lok Sabha and their stand will come as a big relief to the BJP-led NDA. The participation of these parties will help the NDA counter the opposition’s allegations that it is a government event.

Apart from BJP, Shiv Sena, National People’s Party, National Democratic Progressive Party, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, Jannayak Janata Party, AIADMK, IMKMK, AJSU, RPI, Mizo National Front, Tamil Maanila Congress, ITFT (Tripura), Bodo People’s Party, PMK, MGP , Apna Dal and AGP leaders will attend the function. 21 parties including Congress, CPI(M), CPI, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party and Aam Aadmi Party have decided to boycott the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
