New Delhi: The judicial custody of Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji has been extended till August 28 in an alleged money laundering case. The Special Court of MP/MLA, Chennai has directed the jail authorities to produce Balaji on the said date for hearing.

Earlier also, a bench of Justices AS Bopanna and MM Sundresh had allowed Balaji custodial interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate in the cash-for-job scam, while dismissing Balaji plea challenging the Madras High Court verdict.
Minister of Power, Prohibition and Excise, Balaji was arrested on June 14 and admitted to a government hospital in Chennai after he complained of chest pain. He was allowed to be shifted to a private hospital of his choice by the Madras High Court on 15 June.
He was later shifted from Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital to Kaveri Hospital in Alwarpet. Doctors treating him had advised bypass surgery.
