Monkeypox scare: 1st Death in India, 22-year-old returned from UAE to Kerala; Probe ordered

Pathanamthitta: The first death due to monkeypox has occurred in the country. Monkeypox patient has died in Kerala. This has caused an uproar. The 22-year-old had symptoms of monkeypox, later it was confirmed to have monkeypox. The youth had recently returned from UAE (UAE). The young patient died in a private hospital in Thrissur. It is being told that the youth did not have any other kind of disease or problem.

Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that the 22-year-old youth had symptoms of monkeypox. This youth had recently returned from UAE and died a day ago. Kerala Health Minister Veena George said the patient was young and did not have any other disease or any other health problem. George said an inquiry would be conducted as to why there was a delay in getting him admitted to the hospital after his arrival from the UAE on July 21.

The Health Minister told the media- “This particular type of monkeypox is not contagious to a high level like Covid-19 but it does spread. In comparison, the mortality rate from this type of monkeypox is low. He said that since this type of monkeypox spreads, all necessary measures have been taken to prevent it. The minister also said that no study is available on the specific type of disease from other countries where the disease has been detected and hence Kerala is doing a study on it.

A high-level inquiry will be conducted into the death of a person with symptoms of monkeypox in Chavakkad Kuranjiyur. The result of the test conducted in a foreign country was positive. He sought treatment in Thrissur,” said Kerala Health Minister Veena George.

Let us tell you that this death has increased the tension in Kerala and the country. There is already a high alert in Kerala. An alert has been issued in many states of the country regarding monkeypox. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also declared monkeypox as a global emergency. Amidst all this, the World Health Organization has once again warned about this virus.
