Monsoon to reach Kerala in next 48 hours, yellow alert issued: IMD

Monsoon 2023 News: The wait for the arrival of monsoon in India is about to end. According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon can knock in Kerala in the next 48 hours. In the meantime, the "very severe cyclonic storm" "Biparjoy" is likely to intensify over the central and adjacent southeast Arabian Sea around Goa within the next 12 hours.

New Delhi: Southwest Monsoon onset in India may knock in Kerala in the next 48 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a statement released on Wednesday that weather conditions are looking favorable for the onset of monsoon (IMD Monsoon Update) over Kerala in the next 48 hours. IMD had predicted in May (IMD Monsoon Prediction 2023) that on June 4 in India, the monsoon will knock on the coast of Kerala. Generally, the southwest monsoon sets in over Kerala around June 1 every year. It is normal for it to come 7 days before or 7 days after June 1.

In the meantime, the “very severe cyclonic storm” “Biparjoy” is likely to intensify over the central and adjacent southeast Arabian Sea around Goa within the next 12 hours.
A yellow alert has been declared in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha.

According to the Meteorological Department, conditions are also favorable for further advance of Monsoon into other areas of the South Arabian Sea. In the next 48 hours, Monsoon is likely to move towards entire Lakshadweep, Southwest, Central and Northeast Bay of Bengal. In the next 2 days, it can also move towards the northeastern states.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heat wave conditions in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the next 4-5 days. Heat wave conditions occur when the maximum temperature reaches at least 40 °C in the plains and at least 30 °C in the hilly areas.
