Due to the restriction by the Qatari authorities Morocco Airlines cancels football fans' flights.
Doha: The second semifinal of the biggest showpiece in sports, the FIFA World Cup, will take place on Thursday between Morocco and France. Several Moroccan fans were looking to land in Qatar to watch their team in a crucial match against the defending champion.
The restriction by the Qatari authorities barred Moroccan football fans from watching the match from the stadium. Royal Air Maroc emailed its customers with regrets to inform them of the cancellation of their flights.
The Qatari government’s international media office did not respond to this matter.
Earlier, Royal Air Maroc decided to operate 30 additional flights to Qatar so that more and more fans could enjoy the semifinal encounter against current World Champion France. But a source at a RAM travel agency said only 14 flights had been scheduled.
RAM announced the cancellation of seven flights on Wednesday, which means only seven flights were flown on Tuesday, leaving a huge number of fans disappointed who had already booked their hotel rooms and tickets, but can’t land in Qatar.
RAM said it would reimburse air tickets and apologised to customers.
