Moradabad: Maulana Akram, the Imam of the Big Mosque of Bhainsiya Village in Moradabad district of UP, was shot dead on Tuesday morning. The attackers called him out of the house and shot him in the chest. Imam was a resident of Rampur District, who was performing Imamat in the mosque of Bhainsiya Village for 15 years.
They built a house and started living here. The villagers say that the Imam had no enmity with anyone. Police have recovered a 312 bore pistol at a short distance from the spot. Police have started investigating the matter.
In the early hours of the morning in Bhainsiya Village of Katghar police station area of Moradabad, the Imam of the village’s big mosque, Maulana Akram, was shot dead by the attackers. Maulana Akram was the Imam of the Big Mosque of Bhainsiya for 15 years. Was a resident of Rampur district. He had built a house in Bhainsiya village and was living with his wife and 6 children.
Maulana Akram was sleeping on the second floor of his house. Then at 4 in the morning someone called. After talking on the phone, Maulana came down from the second floor. As soon as he came out, the attackers caught hold of Maulana, took him to a ruin next to his house and shot him in the chest. Maulana died on the spot as soon as the bullet hit him.
SP City Akhilesh Bhadoria said that the Imam of the mosque has been shot dead in Bhainsiya Village. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. A 312 bore pistol was found lying at some distance from the spot. The village people and family members are being interrogated.
