This has been confirmed by the district administration. According to the information received, the evacuated Tanmay Sahu was taken to the district hospital via an ambulance. After investigation, the doctors declared him dead. Tanmay Sahu had fallen into a deep borewell while playing on Tuesday evening. He could not be saved in the rescue operation which lasted for three days.
Tell that a tunnel was made to take out Tanmay Sahu trapped in a borewell in Mandvi village of Aathner block of Betul district. Eight-year-old Tanmay fell into a 400 feet deep pit dug for a borewell on Tuesday evening while playing. He was trapped at a depth of about 55 feet. Digging was done parallel to the borewell. Intermittent leakage of water and rocks affected the rescue work.
According to Athaner police station in-charge Ajay Soni, about eight to nine feet tunnel was made. Difficulties were faced in breaking the solid rocks with the drill machine. The leakage of water in the tunnel was also increasing. The water was pumped out with the help of a motor pump. The team of NDRF and SDRF was engaged in the rescue operation. A CCTV camera was installed to keep an eye on Tanyam’s movements. Oxygen was also being supplied there but Tanmay was not doing any kind of action.
