After facing an enormous reaction over a photo of a journalist and a few activists, who were forced to strip in the lock-up to their underwear at a Madhya Pradesh police station. The SHO tried to explain that this was for the “accused’s safety.” He said that the lock-up accused were stripped of their clothes so that they wouldn’t commit suicide.
“We keep them in jail in this way so that they cannot commit suicide using their clothes,”. SHO Manoj Soni said.
Half-naked photographs of the journalist and others in the police station have gone viral. Comments are coming in tons. People are describing the event in their own ways. Amid this case, the police station in charge of Kotwali Sidhi and a sub-inspector have been suspended.
They were arrested for staging an “unauthorised protest” against the arrest of Neeraj Kunder, the director of Indravati Drama School, on April 2. Kunder was arrested for allegedly posting offensive content using a fake identity against a local BJP MLA and his son.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan sought clarification from the Bhopal Police Headquarters and instructed them to take strict action against the culprit police personnel.
The police station in-charge and the one Sub-Inspector (SI) responsible for the misbehaviour of journalists have been suspended and orders have been given to summon them.
Moreover, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sidhi Mukesh Kumar Srivastava summoned the police station in-charge, Kotwali Manoj Soni, and Amilia police station in-charge, Abhishek Singh.
The journalist, Kanishk Tiwari, ,had shared a video on Facebook alleging that he was also assaulted and threatened.
Regarding the incident and the viral photo of the police station, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anjuta Patel had said that, taking cognizance of the matter, under the direction of SP Sidhi, DSP Head Quarter Gayatri Tiwari has been ordered to investigate.
Kanishk Tiwari said that he had gone to cover a sit-in demonstration with his cameraman during which the Kotwali police took him to the police station by force. “I was assaulted. Then the clothes were taken off, “he said.”
A procession was allegedly taken out of the police station. Kanishk said, “My family and I are getting constant threats and it is being said that I will be unnecessarily implicated in a false case.”
Kanishk also said that he was told that he would be attacked. “My whole family is scared.”
The demonstration that Kanishk had gone to cover was against the arrest of Neeraj Kunder, a theatre artist who had been taken into police custody regarding a case involving the son of BJP MLA Kedarnath Shukla.
It is reported that Guru Dutt Shukla, son of the BJP MLA, was abused by a person on Facebook. The Facebook ID was in the name of Anurag Mishra. The MLA’s son had complained about this incident to the Sidhi Kotwali police station,
During the investigation, the police took a theatre artist, Neeraj Kunder, into custody.
After the arrest of Neeraj Kunder, many members of Indravati Natya Samiti Sidhi started protesting at Sidhi Kotwali police station.
All the protestors were then arrested by the Kotwali police station in-charge. After registering a case under Section 151, they were kept in police custody in the station itself.
All the people who were protesting outside the police station were allegedly searched. During this, clothes were allegedly taken off.
