Mulayam Singh Yadav’s last rites in UP’s Saifai village with full state honors today; Top leaders paid last respects to ‘Netaji’

Mulayam Singh Yadav Funeral: The founder, patron and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav will be cremated today in his native village Saifai. His body has been kept at the fair ground in Saifai, where people are gathering to pay their last respects to their favorite Netaji.

Etawah (UP): Samajwadi Party founder, patron and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav will be cremated today in his native village Saifai. amid sea of crowd including party workers, politicians and the general public. The rituals for funeral commenced and shortly Akhilesh Yadav will light his father’s pyre. People from every nook and corner of the state have gathered to bid a tearful farewell to Netaji. State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several ministers of his cabinet are among those who paid tribute. SP leader Azam Khan was seen holding Akhilesh Yadav’s hand.

The body of Mulayam Singh Yadav is being taken to the crematorium in Saifai. After that he will be cremated with full state honors at 3 o’clock. The state government has declared three days of state mourning on his death.

Chief Ministers of many states including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are attending Mulayam Singh’s funeral. Union Minister Rajnath Singh is going to Saifai to pay tribute to Mulayam Singh. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was also going to go but now he is going to Kohima.

Apart from these, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will also visit Saifai.

Tejashwi Yadav, Keshav Prasad Maurya Pay Tribute To SP Founder
Several veteran politicians across party lines are paying their tribute to Mulayam Singh Yadav whose mortal remains have been placed at Mela Maidan in his ancestral village, Saifai in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district. Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, Sirathu MLA Keshav Prasad Maurya, BJP MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Telangana Rashtra Samiti N Chandrababu Naidu paid their tributes to Samajwadi Party founder-patron.

It is likely that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, former MP Chief Minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath will also attend Mulayam Singh’s funeral.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar is also coming to pay tribute to Mulayam Singh by attending the funeral along with daughter Supriya Sule. AAP leader Sanjay Singh will also be in Saifai on this occasion.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Mulayam Singh Yadav on the death of Netaji yesterday and said- ‘I had a special relationship with Mulayam Singh. Whenever we used to meet, there was a sense of belongingness. His blessings and advice are my trust even today.

Yadav, 82, a wrestler in his youth, died yesterday (Monday, October 10) at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Born on 22 November 1939 in Saifai, Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, Yadav’s family is counted among the most prominent political families of the country.

Mulayam Singh Yadav was MLA for 10 times and MP for seven times. He was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh thrice from 1989 to 1991, 1993 to 1995 and 2003 to 2007 and also the Defense Minister of the country from 1996 to 98. At one time he was also considered a contender for the post of Prime Minister of the country.

Yadav remained established as a national leader for several decades but his political arena remained mainly in Uttar Pradesh. From here his politics flourished and influenced by Ram Manohar Lohia, the leader of socialism, he started his political journey and touched the top of power in Uttar Pradesh.
