The incident took place around Devi Dayal Garden in Mulund, where a speeding car first rammed a scooter, causing the rider to fall from the vehicle. Thereafter, the car overturned on the pavement and hit a pedestrian walking on the roadside.
The collision was so strong that the scooter broke into three pieces. Tragically, the motorist named Tukaram Sawant (75) died on the spot while the pedestrian sustained injuries.
Police told media that a case has been registered against the unidentified person under sections 279,304(A), 337,338 of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.
Visuals from the accident site have emerged in which the car is seen to be completely damaged. The front window was shattered and the bonnet was badly dented.
