Mumbai: 8 Injured after massive fire breaks out from LPG cylinder explosion in Bandra

Mumbai: In yet another tragic incident, as many as eight people were injured after a fire broke out due to an LPG gas cylinder blast in the Bandra area of Mumbai in the early hours of Saturday. As soon as information about the fire was received, fire tenders reached the spot and brought the fire under control.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 6.40 am in the morning. The injured have been rushed to the hospital for treatment, informed BMC. The explosion was attributed to an LPG gas cylinder, after primary investigation.

The fire incident unfolded at Fitter Galli, Gazdhar Band Road, Bandra. The blaze was confined to a 10 x 10 structure on Gr + 1 upper floors. The fire, primarily affecting electric wiring, electric installation and a stock of clothes.

Information received from the concerned AMO at Bhabha Hospital in Bandra reported eight injuries with varying degrees of burns. The victims who sustained burn injuries were identified as Nikhil Jogesh Das (53), Rakesh Ramjanam Sharma (38), Anthony Paul Thengal (65), Kalicharan Majilal Kanojiya (54), and Shan Ali Zakir Ali Siddiqui (31).

Additionally, Samsher (50) has been admitted to the male surgical ward with super facial burns, while Sangita (32) has minor injuries and is receiving care in the Female Ortho Ward. Seeta (45) has chosen not to be hospitalised despite sustaining injuries. All individuals are reported to be in stable condition and have been admitted to the male surgical ward at Bhabha Hospital, Bandra.

Over 15 people were evacuated on Friday after a fire engulfs a duplex flat in a 23-storey building located at Grant Road. No fatality or injury was reported in the mishap reported from the Dhavalgiri building situated at August Kranti Road, Papnuswadi, according the fire brigade. The level-two blaze unfolded at around 09.35am in the flat on the twelfth floor. The residents of 15th, 21st and 22nd were left stranded and had to be rescued with the help of a ladder.
