Mumbai: In a distressing incident, Several infants and a 78-year-old passenger developed breathing problem on a Mauritius-bound flight in Mumbai in the early hours of Saturday morning, reported sources. The breathing problem developed after air conditioners onboard flight MK749 of Air Mauritius were not working.

The Air Mauritius flight MK 749 from Mumbai to Mauritius was to depart at 4.30 am and passengers boarded the plane from 3.45 am onwards, he said. There were nearly 200 passengers on board, including a 78-year-old man who developed a breathing problem as the aircraft’s air-conditioning system was not working, he alleged.

The 78-year-old passenger has been identified as Banudatt Boolauky, he suffered respiratory problems due to the stifling heat. Despite the obvious discomfort and health risks, the passengers were not allowed to disembark, leading to a harrowing ordeal that raises serious questions about passenger safety and airline protocols during unexpected technical difficulties.

The lack of a functioning air conditioning system turned a minor inconvenience into a dangerous situation, highlighting the critical importance of maintaining not only mechanical but also environmental conditions within the aircraft. A senior passenger, Banudatt Boolauky, became a poignant symbol of this ordeal, as he, along with many infants, faced significant respiratory challenges. This incident is a stark reminder of the potential health risks that can arise when air travel goes wrong.
