Mumbai: Major incident averted, Three coaches of the local train running between Belapur and Kharkopar derailed. This incident happened at 8.46 in the morning. Another train has left for relief. Three coaches of the Mumbai to Belapur to Kharkopar local train derailed while entering the Kharkopar station at around 8:46 am on Tuesday.

Speaking on the matter, Central Railway CPRO Shivaji M Sutar said, “Three coaches of Belapur to Kharkopar local train derailed while entering Kharkopar station. There are no casualties or injured in this. Relief train has reached the spot and work is on to restore vehicular traffic. He further said that only on Belapur-Nerul-Kharkopar routes, train traffic is closed. Local train operations continue on Harbour, Main Line and other routes.

Three coaches from the motorman’s end derailed at around 8.45 am when the train was about to reach Kharkopar station, located about 30 km from Mumbai, on Belapur-Kharpokar line in Navi Mumbai.
Relief trains from Panvel and other locations reached the derailment site and senior officials also rushed to the spot, another official said.
The train traffic on the Belapur-Seawoods-Kharpokar suburban corridor has been suspended, the official said. The cause of the derailment is not yet clear, officials said.
