Mumbai: The Mumbai Police on Friday got a threatening message from an overseas number on its Whatsapp helpline, instructing them to take care to prevent an attack similar to the one in Somalia.
This development comes after the police were alerted last week that a 26/11-like attack may occur in the city.
At around 11.35 pm on August 19, the Mumbai traffic police’s helpline number had received messages on its WhatsApp number claiming that an attack would soon be carried out in the city to revive the memories of the November 26, 2008 attacks.
According to the threat letter, which was allegedly sent from a Pakistani phone number and stated that six people would carry out the plot in India, the sender of the message claimed to be in Pakistan at the time.
The latest message has not revealed any threats and just talked about a Somalia-like attack. The message hasn’t mentioned which incident in the African country it was referring to.
