Mumbai: Mumbai Police sent a notice to Bigg Boss celebrity Uorfi Javed following complaints from BJP leader and Maharashtra Mahila Morcha president Chitra Wagh for “engaging in nudity publicly on the streets of Mumbai.”
She was summoned by the police to appear at the Amboli police station for questioning in Mumbai today (Saturday).
The police commissioner ordered a probe into the matter.
Ten days ago, the BJP leader blasted Uorfi Javed for her fashion choices on Twitter and questioned whether the Women’s Commission would take any action or not.
“Half-naked woman wander in public on the streets,” Wagh had tweeted. Why isn’t this being noticed by the Women’s Commission itself? The demonstration is not against Uorfi, but rather against the behaviour of walking in public spaces in scanty dresses. “And yes… will the women’s commission do anything or not?”
Uorfi Javed went to the Maharashtra State Commission over the remarks made by the BJP leader against her.
Uorfi Javed bemoaned that Chitra Wagh’s remarks against her surfaced on social media. The public domain influencer alleged that such comments would encourage people to attack her. Uorfi Javed approached the Maharashtra State Commission for Women office on Friday and met chairperson Rupali Chakankar.
Uorfi Javed got fame and a name after her role on Bigg Boss OTT. Prior to this, she was engaged with numerous TV shows, including Bade Bhaiyya Ki Dulhania, Chandra Nandini, etc. She can be spotted on Splitsvilla X4 as a contestant.
