Kohima: An SUV plunges into a ditch after colliding with a goods vehicle in the Tseminyu district of Nagaland. Seven killed on spot, while, one died on the way to the hospital after the accident that happened near K Station, 65 km from the capital Kohima, in the early hours on Wednesday.
The collision of crash was so severe that the truck also slipped off the road and fell into the gorge over the SUV, they added. The SUV was heading towards Mokokchung from Kohima when the accident happened, officials said.
A passenger carrying a SUV on its way from Mokokchung and going towards Kohima collided with a dumper carrying sand. As a result, both vehicles went off the cliff into a 100-150 feet deep gorge.
An official said that investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing. Among the dead were three women who had recently passed the Nagaland Staff Selection Board examination. He had also received the appointment letter to join the government service as a Grade-3 employee.
According to preliminary investigation, dumper loaded with sand fell on top of the Tata Sumo, so the passengers were crushed to death.
