The 30-second video, recorded on a camera within the house, depicts a seemingly ordinary scene in the two-storey building’s kitchen during lunchtime. The family was reportedly preparing ‘saag’ in the pressure cooker. Two women were busy in the kitchen, a child played with a ball, and a man sat at the dinner table a few feet away. However, the tranquility quickly turned into chaos.
Within moments, the pressure cooker’s lid violently detached, smashing into the ceiling and causing portions of the ceiling and kitchen furniture to collapse. Thick smoke engulfed the room as the family sought cover. The footage showed a kitchen chimney landing between the two women, who covered their ears and hurriedly exited. Additional people were seen running down the stairs in the aftermath of the explosion.
While the cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, the family miraculously escaped unharmed. Typically, pressure cookers explode when the whistle is obstructed, preventing steam from escaping and causing overheating.
