NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft pierced the Pluto system for the first time on July 14, 2015, which later on provided the close up images of Pluto and its moons, giving the information of a different world existing in our solar system.

Scientists are researching and analysing the data received via Flyby. On the eve of two year anniversary, NASA released the high quality maps of Pluto and its moons.

Alan Stern, New Horizons principal investigator said: “The complexity of the Pluto system — from its geology to its satellite system to its atmosphere — has been beyond our wildest imagination. Everywhere we turn is new mysteries. These new maps from the landmark exploration of Pluto by NASA’s New Horizons mission in 2015 will help unravel these mysteries and are for everyone to enjoy.”

This spacecraft is presently 5.7 billion kilometres away from Earth and is still covering distance to reach its next target.
