Mumbai: National Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday evening was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai a day early because of pain in the abdomen, as revealed by his party members.
Notably, former Union Minister was to be hospitalised tomorrow for an endoscopy and a surgery.
Sharing the news on micro-blogging site NCP leader Nawab Malik said, “Attention please, our party president Sharad Pawar saheb was supposed to be admitted in hospital for endoscopy and surgery procedure tomorrow, but since he is experiencing some pain again in the abdomen, he is admitted in Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai today.”

The 80-year-old senior politician, as per his party’s yesterday statement, was diagnosed with a gall bladder disease and his appointment for a surgery had also been locked for Wednesday but as Mr Pawar experienced excruciating pain in his abdomen today he was rushed to the hospital.
“He is on blood-thinning medication which is now being stopped due to this issue. He will be admitted in hospital on the 31st of March 2021 and an endoscopy and surgery will be conducted. Hence, all his programmes stand cancelled until further notice,” the NCP spokesperson had said.
Mr Pawar’s hospitalisation comes in the middle of a major crisis in Maharashtra’s ruling coalition of the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress over the extortion allegations made by former police commissioner Param Bir Singh against state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The 14-month-old government led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is under huge political pressure over the Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case, in which NCP leader Anil Deshmukh, is facing allegations, which has caused a rift between its allies – Sena and NCP.
Adding fuel to the fire, reports of Mr Pawar meeting Union Minister Amit Shah in Ahmedabad on Saturday have widened the rift. While Mr Shah was noncommittal about his meeting with Mr Pawar, the NCP also denied the same.
