Mumbai: The leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, Sharad Pawar, is ready for an investigation into the Patra Chawl fraud case. Pawar promised that the truth would be revealed. An investigation has been demanded by the BJP into Pawar’s involvement in the Patra Chawl scam.
Pawar criticised the BJP for using probe agencies, saying that the government’s objective is to look into the leaders of opposition parties.
Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena leader was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate in relation to the incident. It has been mentioned that a meeting was held in the presence of former Maharashtra Chief Minister and former agriculture minister, Sharad Pawar.
The NCP clarified that on August 14, 2006, Sharad Pawar attended a discussion on redeveloping Patra Chawl. He had convened numerous discussions on a range of state-related subjects. The meeting’s objectives were to talk, communicate, and find a middle way.
The Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority hired Guruashish Constructions, a subsidiary of HDIL (Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd), to renovate Patra Chawl in 2007. (MHADA).
Guruashish Constructions had to construct flats for 672 tenants of Patra Chawl and about 3,000 flats needed to be provided to MHADA. The total land parcel was 47 acres and the remaining land, after handing over flats to MHADA and Patra Chawl tenants, was to be allowed for sale and development by Guruashish Constructions.
