Birmingham: Despite missing the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham due to injury, Neeraj Chopra showed his sportsmanship spirit by congratulating his Pakistani counterpart, Arshad Nadeem, on winning the gold medal in javelin throw events with his scintillating over 90m throw.
In his congratulatory note, Neeraj wrote, “Congratulations Arshad bhai for the gold medal and crossing the 90m mark.”
At the Commonwealth Games, Arshad became the first Pakistani to win a gold medal in javelin throw for the country.
In his gold medal quest, he broke the barrier of the 90m mark in the event. He also shared a short video on Instagram and Neeraj Chopra’s congratulatory message for the gold medallist in the comments won the hearts of the people on social media.
The friendship of two neighbouring nations’ athletes also grabbed the attention of Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra.He praised their camaraderie. Besides this, he shared a screenshot of Neeraj Chopra’s message for Nadeem and wrote, “This is how the world should be.” A gold medal to both of them for demonstrating the difference between competitiveness and enmity. “#NeerajChopra#ArshadNadeem.”
