New Delhi: Ace javelin thrower and Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra is gearing up to return to competitive action at the Lausanne Diamond League 2022 on Friday after failing to participate at the Commonwealth Games 2022 due to a groin injury. The CWG was held in Birmingham last month.
Neeraj Chopra will appear in the Diamond League event once more this year at the Lausanne meeting. The Indian javelin thrower is fourth in the Diamond League javelin event in points table this year with seven points, one behind World Champion Anderson Peters, who has 16 points from two events.
The grand finale will only be open to the top six javelin throwers with the most points at the end of the Diamond League series. The Lausanne Diamond League is set to be held at the La Pontaise Olympic stadium. It will also be the final opportunity for the men’s javelin throwers to qualify for the Diamond League Final to be held in Zurich, Switzerland on September 7-8.
