Kota: A student preparing for medical entrance exam died by suicide today in Rajasthan’s Kota. After the student’s death, the number of suicides in Kota, which is called the education hub, has increased to 17 this year.

This incident has once again brought to the fore the disturbing incident of suicide by students in Kota. Every year, lakhs of students from across the country visit Kota to prepare for competitive exams for admission to top engineering and medical colleges in the country.
In the past few years, Kota has been in news for students committing suicide due to stress and despair from failure. Last year, at least 15 cases of suicide by students were reported in Kota.
