NEET Controversy: Police to Interrogate Tejashwi’s PS; Accused Aspirants’ Bail Plea in Court Today

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Bihar Police recently arrested 13 individuals as part of its investigation into the alleged paper leak in NEET-UG 2024. The arrested included examinees, their parents, and alleged mastermind Sikander Prasad Yadvendu.

NEET Controversy Developments
The Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) is set to interrogate the personal secretary (PS) of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, whose name has emerged in the ongoing NEET ‘paper leak’ controversy. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha claimed on Thursday that the prime suspect in the NEET “paper leak” has connections with officials linked to Tejashwi Yadav, allegations dismissed by the RJD as a “bundle of lies” intended to distract from calls to cancel the May 5 exam.

In a press conference, Sinha asserted that the official was in regular contact with Sikander Prasad Yadvendu, the main accused. “The official associated with Yadav arranged accommodations for Sikander at guest houses in Patna and other locations. I have details of messages that the official sent to arrange these accommodations,” the deputy chief minister said.

Investigation and Evidence
Sources revealed that the EOU, which questioned two more suspects on Wednesday, was provided with substantial evidence during the investigation. The EOU has already seized post-dated cheques allegedly issued to mafia or gang members who demanded over Rs 30 lakh from each candidate seeking the leaked question paper before last month’s exam.

Legal Proceedings
The bail plea for the arrested aspirants will be heard in court on Friday. Amid the ongoing NEET controversy, all four arrested aspirants from Bihar—Anurag Yadav, Shivanandan Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, and Ayush Kumar—have confessed that the question paper for the medical entrance exam was leaked the previous night. They admitted to receiving the exact questions that were asked in the exam the next day.
