Nepal: Two earthquakes of magnitude 4.7 and 5.3 hit Baglung district

Earthquake tremors were felt twice in a short span of time in Baglung district of Nepal. In such a situation, due to frequent earthquakes, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people.

Kathmandu: Earthquake tremors on different Richter scales were felt in Nepal today (Wednesday). According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center (NEMRC) Nepal, two earthquakes of magnitude 4.7 and 5.3 occurred in Nepal’s Baglung district in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the reading received from the center, an earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred at 1.23 am around Adhikari Chaur in Baglung district. At the same time, another earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale occurred around Khunga in Baglung district at 2:07 pm. At present, there is no casualties reported.

“An Earthquake of ml 4.7 occurred around Adhikari Chaur of Baglung District at 01:23 on 2079/09/13 NEMRC/DMG,” NEMRC tweeted.

“An Earthquake of ml 5.3 occurred around Khunga of Baglung District at 02:07 on 2079/09/13 NEMRC/DMG,” NEMRC said in another tweet.

Earthquakes are common in mountainous Nepal, which is home to the tallest mountain. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake in 2015 killed some 9,000 people and damaged around 1 million structures.

On the other hand, on November 15 last month, earthquake tremors were felt in Nepal. Its intensity was measured at 4.2 on the Richter scale. Even before this, earthquake tremors were felt twice in Nepal. The earthquake was felt around Babala in Acham district in Nepal. On the other hand, once again earthquake tremors were felt twice in a short span of time. In such a situation, due to frequent earthquakes, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people.
