New 7.5-magnitude earthquake hits southeastern Turkey hours after more than 1,400 killed

Turkey Earthquake Update: Four countries of the Middle East including Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Israel were shaken by the earthquake. Second 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit southeast Turkey this evening. The lives of thousands of people are in trouble.

Istanbul: Today many countries of Western Asia were shaken by a devastating earthquake. In four countries including Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Israel, the earth shook on Monday morning, thousands of people were hit by the earthquake. The intensity of this earthquake was 7.5 on the Richter scale. There has been a huge devastation due to the earthquake.

Repeated aftershocks after the earthquake
Earthquake tremors again on Monday evening. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), 18 aftershocks were recorded after the 7.5 magnitude earthquake. Now it has been told that two more aftershocks have come, in which one shock was of 5.8 magnitude, while the second shock was of 5.7 magnitude. This second blow has come in the eastern part of Turkey.

Over 1400 died in Turkey
After the earthquake, more than 1000 people lost their lives in Turkey alone, while this figure has reached 1600 including the dead of other countries. According to the latest reports, 5,380 people have been injured. 2818 buildings have been razed to the ground in the earthquake and 2470 people have been rescued from inside the debris.

Relief work in full swing
Large-scale relief work is going on amidst the tremors of the earthquake. According to the news agency AP, thousands of people are feared trapped in the damaged premises in earthquake-affected countries including Turkey. It was told by the Turkish Disaster Management that many are still trapped in the debris. In such a situation, rescue and relief operations are being conducted on a large scale.

A European scientist had predicted this earthquake 3 days back. Netherlands scientist Frank Hogerbeets had tweeted about this on February 3, he had said – if not today then tomorrow, but soon a 7.5 magnitude earthquake is going to hit this area.

In the midst of the earthquake, the temperature has been recorded below zero in many areas of Turkey. Actually, these days it is getting severe winter in this country. The runway of the airport here has been damaged due to the earthquake. Snowfall has also become a problem in the rescue work.

Thousands of people’s lives are in danger even in Turkey’s neighboring country Syria. 560 people have died here.

The first tremor of earthquake occurred in Turkey at around 4.15 am on Monday morning. Its center was in Gaziantep area, which is 90KM away from the Syria border.
