Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is sparing no effort to transform the two leading cities of the state, Lucknow and Kanpur, to up the state’s economic progress.
To facilitate the economic growth and connectivity between the two key cities, the state administration has chalked out plans to initiate an expressway project that will accelerate all-around growth and development.
The 6-lane corridor will reportedly be built over a stretch of 63 km and join Lucknow Airport and the Azad Chauraha near Ganga Barrage. There are prospects of amplifying it to an 8-lane facility in the future. The project is scheduled to start in October and is expected to be completed in a period of 30 months.
This ambitious project has got green signal from both the union and state authorities, which will be built at an approximate cost of ₹4700 crores.
This expressway route would reduce the travel time between these two locations to 45 minutes, as per reports.
According to reports, the Lucknow and Unnao administrations have already started to procure land for the project, which are expected to be materialised within 2 months. The authorities are also deliberating upon the need for a flyover, given the hampered connectivity at the NH 27 intersection.
