Newark-bound United Airlines Boeing 787 flight diverted amid turbulence, several injured

Newark: United Airlines Boeing 787 flight headed to Newark International Airport in New Jersey makes an emergency landing at New York Stewart International Airport on Friday due to high winds and ‘extreme turbulence’.

Several injured passengers were taken to local hospitals for examination and the rest were sent back to Newark Airport. Sources have reported that ‘high winds’ were the cause of extreme turbulence that prompted the emergency landing.

According to the Airlines, The United plane, which was originally headed from Tel Aviv to Newark, stopped in New York because of bad weather.

The office of Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus said first responders from multiple agencies at the scene encountered at least 200 passengers. Neuhaus said, “I want to thank all first responders for their prompt, efficient and professional actions.”

He added,”Their collaborative efforts helped ease the stress and difficulty of a challenging situation on this Good Friday evening. Although none of the passengers were seriously injured, we wish them a speedy recovery and safe travels.”
