Nitin Desai blamed the finance company; appealed to the state government in audio message

National award-winning art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai was found dead in his studio in Maharashtra's Raigad district. Prior to his suicide, he recorded an emotional appeal to the state government, requesting them to ensure that his ND studio is not seized. He blamed the finance company Edelweiss ARC for his financial troubles and mental distress.

The sudden and tragic passing of National award-winning art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai has sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry. Prior to his unfortunate suicide, Desai recorded heartrending audio clips where he appealed emotionally to the state government, imploring them to safeguard his ND studio from being seized. In these recordings, he held the finance company Edelweiss ARC responsible for his financial distress and the mental anguish he endured. Desai candidly revealed the challenges he faced due to the company’s actions, which led him into immense turmoil.

The police have confirmed that Desai attributed the Rs 252-crore debt he was grappling with to Edelweiss ARC. As a result of this financial struggle, The NCLT’s Mumbai bench took decisive action, ordering the initiation of the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process against his company, ND’s Art World Private Limited, on July 25, 2023.

In his poignant audio plea, Desai passionately expressed his earnest desire for the government to protect his studio, which he had painstakingly built with his dreams and efforts. His main concern was to ensure that it continued to serve as a platform for aspiring artists, benefiting the creative community beyond his own interests or those of his family.

The bow and arrow found at the location of his tragic demise hold symbolic significance, representing the personal battles and hardships Desai encountered. He acknowledged that despite his best efforts to overcome the challenges, he found himself unable to find a solution, ultimately leading to his decision to end his life.

This heartbreaking event underscores the critical need for support and compassion within the creative industry. The financial and emotional burdens faced by artists should be addressed with sensitivity and understanding. Edelweiss ARC has expressed their condolences and commitment to cooperating with the ongoing legal process surrounding the matter. The loss of Nitin Desai serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the significance of providing adequate support to those facing difficulties within the artistic community.
