Mumbai: The Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Police (Law and Order), Vishwas Nangre Patil, clarified that no prohibitory orders have been imposed in Mumbai. The news went viral on social media that an assembly of five or more people was restricted in the city

It is false news that Section 144 was issued in Mumbai and that people can’t assemble in one place. This is false and misleading news that is hovering on social media.

Mumbai Police issued a notice under Section 37 (1) (3) against anti-social elements whose aim is to disrupt the law and order situation in the city. “The routine life is normal in the city,” Patil said.

“Schools, colleges, functions, club events, political events, and other activities have been taking place as usual.” I appeal to the media not to spread rumours, and the law and order situation is under control, he added.

Earlier today, several media agencies reported the imposition of Section 144 in Mumbai, which is totally wrong.
