Noida politician Shrikant Tyagi sent to 14-day judicial custody, has ‘MLA’ sticker on one of his vehicles: Police

New Delhi: In the breaking development in the case, self-proclaimed Noida leader Shrikant Tyagi, who was seen abusing the woman in the camera, has been sent to jail for 14 days. Srikant Tyagi, who misbehaved with the woman, was arrested by the police from Meerut. A total of four people including Shrikant Tyagi were arrested from Meerut. Tyagi flaunted a car sticker that falsely identified him as an MLA and was given to him by Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya, police said.

Alok Singh, Commissioner of Gautam Budh Nagar Police said that a notification comes from our social media team, in which there was a video of Omaxe. We took immediate notice of this. This video was from the incident of 5 August. We contacted the victim. Then after taking a complaint from the victim, we started the search for the accused.

Alok Singh told that 12 teams were formed to arrest the accused. The accused had also gone out of UP. Technical investigation for the search, started the investigation of CCTV footage. The accused kept avoiding the police very cleverly.

The vehicle Noida police recovered from him sported a BJP flag and an MLA sticker. A vehicle recovered from his close aide had a “BJP Yuva Morcha” sticker and party flags.

“Shrikant Tyagi has an ‘MLA’ sticker on one of his vehicles. He says this sticker was given to him by his old political colleague Swami Prasad Maurya. We’re verifying this information,” said Alok Singh, Noida Police Commissioner.

He says that he got this sticker from Swami Prasad Maurya. The Commissioner of Police said that action is being taken against the accused under the Gangster Act.

Shrikant Tyagi and his wife had also received protection from the Ghaziabad police for over a year. In 2019, the couple were allotted seven gunmen after they claimed a threat to their lives.

Maurya, who was a minister in the previous BJP government in the state, had quit the party just ahead of the Assembly earlier this year and joined the Samajwadi Party. Currently, he is a member of the state legislative council from the Samajwadi Party.

Until he went underground Friday night, Tyagi claimed to be the national executive member of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha and the national co-coordinator of its Yuva Samiti, even as the ruling party denied any links with him.

The Opposition has also mounted an attack on the BJP over the issue, sharing purported pictures of Tyagi with senior saffron party leaders, including its national president J P Nadda.
