According to the report, after the missile was discovered by the Japanese Coast Guard and the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea, the government has issued a warning in northern Japan advising people to take shelter in a safe place. Train services in the north-eastern Hokkaido and Aomori regions have been temporarily suspended.

Japanese authorities issued a “J-alert” to residents in northeaster regions to evacuate to buildings nearby, the first such alert since 2017. Trains were temporarily suspended in Japan’s Hokkaido and Aomori regions before their operations were resumed after a government notice that the North Korean missile appeared to have landed in the Pacific.

Yonhap News Agency reported that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida condemned North Korea’s action, while South Korean President Yoon Suk-yol warned of a harsh response after the launch. Apart from this, the leaders of both the countries have also called meetings of their respective National Security Councils.

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said there have been no immediate reports of damage reported after the North’s missile launch. He said the missile landed in waters outside the country’s exclusive economic zone after a 22-minute flight.
