Barnala, Punjab: In a significant development, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police successfully shot down notorious gangster Gurmeet Singh, widely known as Kala Dhanaula, during an encounter in Barnala. The gangster had a criminal history with over 60 heinous cases registered against him. Kala Dhanaula was the head of the infamous Kala Dhanaula gang.
The encounter took place at a farmhouse in Barnala’s Badbar, where the AGTF confronted Gurmeet Singh. The police team engaged in an exchange of gunfire with the gangster, who reportedly fired shots during the confrontation. In self-defence, the police retaliated, resulting in Gurmeet Singh sustaining gunshot wounds and succumbing to them.
During the encounter, an Inspector and a Sub-Inspector from the police team sustained injuries. Both injured personnel are currently receiving medical treatment. The successful operation marks a significant breakthrough for the Punjab Police, as Kala Dhanaula was categorized as a ‘A’ grade gangster with a long history of criminal activities.
Gurmeet Singh, alias Kala Dhanaula, was a notorious figure with a criminal record that included more than 60 heinous criminal cases. His elimination in the encounter is expected to have a substantial impact on curbing criminal activities associated with his gang.
Following the encounter, security measures have been heightened, with police deployed extensively in the aftermath of Kala Dhanaula’s neutralization. The operation demonstrates the Punjab Police’s commitment to tackling organized crime and maintaining law and order in the region.
